Q1: How do we define forests?
Ans: Part of land which has natural vegetation without any human interference is called forests.

Q2: What is status of Indian land as forest and on world map?
Ans: 23.81% of total geographical land of India is covered by forests. India stands at 10th position for the most forested country in the world.

Q3: Why plains have only 5% of total forests?
Ans: It is because population lives in plains and there is no forest where human beings live.

Ans: Quinine is the antimalarial drug obtained from the bark of Cinchona tree.

Q9: What is poaching?
Ans: Illegal hunting, killing or capturing of wild animals is called poaching.

Ans: One horned Rhinoceros, It is the second largest mammal of India. Its number is deceased and is on the verge of extinction.

Q12: What measures Govt. Of India has taken up to conserve wildlife?
Ans: 1. The govt of India has set up wildlife and bird sanctuaries and national parks to protect animals and birds. We have 89 national parks, 490 wildlife sanctuaries to protect animals and birds.
2. There are various projects to save lives of certain animals such as Project Tiger, Project Elephant etc.
3. First week of October, every year is observed as ‘Wildlife week’ to accelerate the awareness of wildlife conservation among people.
